Habitat: Slight bank/roadcut in coastal sage scrub. NNW facing, +-30 degrees.

Description: Perennial to 60cm. Green, but purplish young plants (late in season). Leaves and stems with glandular, hairy trichomes of varied length. Leaves lanceolate, to 45-50mm, entire to three lobed at tip, not rolled upward. Bracts generally entire. Corolla bright red, with yellow, shaggy-glandular-hairy. Calyx divisions difficult to measure as they overlap, appearing +- 60-80% abaxially, +-20-30% adaxially, upper lobes only somewhat curving upward. Corolla also with dense glandular-hairy trichomes, seeming very straight, not curving.
Reproductive Condition: Flowering
Individual Count: 11-50
Notes: This subtaxon not yet published. Same location as M. Simpson collection, 2023. That plant verified by Mark Egger. Very late in season, most plants senesced or with some young Fall basal growth. This the only plant flowering.
