Habitat: Urban edge landscape, but within county park land. Perhaps some former irrigation, but appears off now.

Description: Large, rank perennial (30-50 larger than adjacent Cenchrus setaceus) with semi-woody culm bases. Loose clump to 1.4m (to infl. top), possibly short rhizomed. Stem erect to lax, glabrous (except at ligules). Lgule 1-3 mm with short, wooly hairs; blade moderately stout, V-shape in cross section, ca 8-11 mm wide, green. Inflorescence panicle 18 cm, arching; bristles/awns(?) varied in length 9-19 mm, lower versions ca 8-13 mm, well branched/feathery ca 66% of length, with slight bend on most at ca 3/4 proximal; central long version straight and unbranched to ca 19 mm.
