Description: Perennial to ca 50cm high; rhizomatous, no tubers; stems many from base; flowering stems round; leaves few, 3mm x ca.12cm; 3 bracts per head, 3-17cm; spikelets flattened, 2-sided, olive brown at center, green at margins, 40-71 per, 5-7mm wide x 2.1-2.5mm wide; stigmas 2; seed,1mm x .5mm, dark with white marbling, beak on proximal end.
