Habitat: Mixed chaparral. Associates: Malosma laurina, adenostema fasciculatum, xylococcus bicolor.
Substrate: Moist sand.
Description: Annual subshrub, ca. 0.3-0.6 m tall. Stems tinted red arising from sandy, wet soil. Leaves lanceoltae, tinted red ca. 12 - 17 cm long and 2.5 cm wide. Inflorescence a raceme of white flowers ca 1 - 2 mm long and wide. Fruit a three sided achene.
