Habitat: Sandy soil, flat, partly shaded. River bank or riparian floodplain. Platanus racemosa + Salix sp. + Populus fremontii/ Artemisia douglasii/ mixed herb woodland.
Description: Perennial herb, with one main stem ca. 1 m long bearing several erect lateral branches (one of these collected here), ca. 30-50 cm long. In flower and fruit. Stems red-maroon, corolla, stamens, and stigmas yellow, style green-yellow. Corolla turning orange after anthesis. Fruits are red-maroon.
