Habitat: Flat area with agricultural fields; shallow untended drainage ditch between fields and concrete irrigation canal; with Bassia, Typha, Suaeda, Distichlis and one Populus farther down ditch. Pacific tree frogs calling from Typha, suggesting fairly permanent water.
Reproductive Condition: Fruiting
Notes: Fairly common subshrubs c. 0.5 m tall; on low dry bench above edge of ditch, between ditch and canal. C. 200 plants scattered on possible remnant of original soil surface. Foliage with unpleasant “dead fish” odor. Lvs. turgid in soil moist from rain.
