Authors: Michael G. Simpson, Jim Dice, Rebecca E. Crowe
Locality: Steele/Burnand Anza-Borrego Desert Research Center (33.24014 -116.39275)
Abstract:

This is a checklist of the native and naturalized vascular plants occurring on the 78-acre property of the Steele/Burnand Anza-Borrego Desert Research Center in Borrego Springs, California. It exludes cultivated plants immediately adjacent to the facility. This checklist lists all known vascular plants documented from herbarium specimen vouchers, linked to the Consortium of California Herbaria (cch2.org) and/or iNaturalist observations, linked to the iNaturalist Project: Steele/Burnand Anza-Borrego Desert Research Center Plant Checklist

The Research Center is part of the University of California Natural Reserve System and is managed by the University of California, Irvine. It provides housing, classroom, and research space for faculty, students, and researchers, also enabling access to the adjacent 600,000+-acre Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, operated by California State Parks. Since opening in 2012, the Research Center has hosted university-level classes and researchers from all over the world. It has been the site for a number of workshops of plant and animal biology.
